Halted by her grief and concerns regarding pessimistic views, Erica was only able to create this platform after gaining her confidence once again.
"Building this website and platform wasn't the easiest job when all I could think about were the harsh opinions that I might receive. However, every time I thought about the mistreatment the Indigenous community would receive, my will became stronger by the day until finally I got out of my shell and made this community."

Once she was made aware of the colonial mindset she had unknowingly harbored, Joyce determined to educate herself on Indigenous-related topics to actively weed out her prejudices. She joined S-hulí to learn and spread knowledge of Indigenous-related topics that textbooks don’t talk about. Her passion for reading and writing helped her gain awareness and get involved.
